Basic Photoshop Skill: Color Modifications
By Yan • Apr 2nd, 2007 • Category: Photoshop TutorialsMost purists seem to take offense at the idea of manipulating images in PhotoShop, but I have no such issues. As pixel guru Roy Difuntorum puts it, “Art should not be hindered by anything less than what’s not art.”

This guide covers the basics of making color modifications in PhotoShop. A more comprehensive tutorial is coming soon.
Steps in this Tutorial:
I. Using Brightness and Contrast
You can easily manipulate the color settings of an image by making adjustments in the brightness and contrast palette. To access brightness and contrast, go to Image in the top menu. Go to Adjustments. Then click Brightness/Contrast.

helpful . tnx
hi yan,
I shot a picture of a very fair-skinned guy in the open sun and i failed to adjust my aperture. His skin is virtually white and lacks the details of the muscles, it just looks quite bad. I went over the dark bronze skin color manipulation procedure you posted ehre, but all I got is a high-contract poster effect that I did not like. I was targeting a bronzed, latino look for the guy since he’s really brazilian, but in reality, he’s just too pale. Wish there was a way to show you the pic. Hope you could help
Thanks in advance.
