Vector (non)Art

Okay. This isn’t exactly art. But forgive me if I give myself a little pat on the back. (Good job, good job, I tell myself, coz I’m pretty sure nobody else will.
) This is my first foray into the world of vector illustration (with the use of an archaic mouse and my caffeine-nicotine-weakened right hand), and I’m just so happy that I finally got the hang of it. This is far from perfect, I know. My strokes are obviously clumsy, the lines too jagged, the details a little incoherent. But I’m proud of my efforts, and I’m determined to keep on trying. Here’s hoping I can create wow-worthy illustrations in the manner of the great Ian Jay Aguas. Ha! Wishful thinking, much?
For those who want to give this cool little distraction a try, you may find Melissa Clifton’s “Vector Art with Photoshop” and N.Design Studio’s “Photo Tracing with Illustrator” particularly informative. Enjoy!

WHOA
i almost jumped when i saw my name after checking readers…(it’s aGuas btw).
nice work and i’m not really that far away from you you know. if you want i could point you to real wow-worthy pinoy digital artists. as far as i know a good way to progress is learning to critique yourself, like your post here. all you need is passion to do it anyway … which i think you amply have.
i know squat about illustrator tho, all my attempts at vector art goes down south, but i guess it’s more of a personal preference… vector art is for the patient ones. be sure to have it.
thanks for the
hey, levin! (is it ian or jay? or just levin?)
thanks for your words of encouragement. i really need an ego boost, at least as far as my vector *experiments* are concerned. i’m hoping a new pen and tablet would help. lol.
you don’t need to be so modest. i’m a fan of your works. in fact, if i were to write a graphic novel, you’d be my first pick as an artist. no kidding.
oopsie. my apologies for misspelling your name. tupid keyboard. lemme correct that after this comment.
and thanks for dropping by.
Hahaha… forget the DSLR… buy yourself a pen and tablet!
