The Story of Us
By Yan • Oct 8th, 2007 • Category: SoliloquyAll that drama seems funny now. But while it was unfolding, nobody was laughing. Well, except maybe Gen. But that’s another story.
Speaking of stories, there’s one that needs to be told. But you need to bribe me with lots of alcohol (don’t worry, I’d settle for beer) to get me talking. And, believe me, you need to brace yourself for what would surely be a pathetic twist to Silverstein’s The Missing Piece. And by pathetic, I mean the piece never gets to meet the big O. (And by O, I don’t mean what you think I mean. Gosh, Silverstein is a children’s lit author, for crying out loud! But then again, children’s literature is rife with so many metaphors. — But I digress. yet again.)
Moving on…
I dare you to ask me this question now: “Are you okay?”
My response: “If by you, you mean me, then my answer would be yes. But if by you, you mean us, then I would have to say yes and no.”
Confused yet?
Don’t worry. You’ll get it soon.
All I can say at this point is that I’m going on a little journey to find myself — you know, the me outside of us. Because this Lacanian existence cannot possibly be who I am. I refuse to accept that this is what I’ve become. …No. This can’t be it.
And for now, that’s all you need to know.
In the meantime…
Play a little game with me: To view my password-protected posts, type the 6-letter nickname that my friends call me and swap the second to the last letter with a digit that looks like the original letter. That nickname, by the way, rhymes with sexy. And pretty. And lovely. And I guess, if your diction lilts, then bitchy, too.
And to all my friends, thank you for your support. You make life worth living. I hope you know how much I love you.

alli & kai, figured out the password yet? it’s so easy. hehehe. al, it’s what you always call me. but don’t spend too much time cracking the code. there’s nothing in those protected posts but lots of inane ramblings, anyway. if everything else fails, you can always ask genee. hehehe.
yo, igagaw tingali ta? hehehe. lacanian pertains to a psychoanalytical theory developed by french neo-freudian psychologist jacques lacan. simply put, the lacanian school of thought posits that an individual’s concept of self centers on how he/she is perceived by others. it is a somewhat controversial (and admittedly incomplete) derivation of freud’s ego construct. let’s just put it this way: my sense of identity is so screwed up that i don’t even get it anymore.
gen, pag-chur oi. mayna lang friends ta, no? bweheheheeh. “his madness keeps him sane.” amen.
kai, enjoy gaiman. you’ll fall in love, i guarantee. eventually, you should invest in your own sandman collection. budget between P10k (amazon bargains) and roughly P15k (go to filbar’s in SM) for the entire collection. if you want to go all the way for a hard bound collector’s item series, then P20k should be enough. a bit expensive, that is true. but totally worth every centavo.
re sandman: i SO concur. heby (heavy) heby (heavy) reading lang siya usahay. but aylaveht!
hala uy psych 101, anyone? hahahahaha.
