Token Thank You Speech

I just need to do this. Pardon the mush.

Thank you:

Mom and Dad for the unlimited supply of gourmet coffee, for looking the other way when I needed to vent, for not pushing me to talk, for understanding that what I needed was solitude and silence, for just letting me be while I was there. I love you, Mommy. I love you, Daddy. I am proud to be your daughter.

Ephraim for the book-that-I-have-yet-to-read-for-fear-of-regressing. I thank you for your words, your art, your wisdom.

Lem for coffee, yosi, and the oh-so-important discourse about music and whatnot.

Troy for the company. You are the greatest yosi buddy in the world. Thank you for helping me through bouts of loneliness and depression in those odd hours.

Gerik for the (er) unique perspective. And I quote: “Yan, Manila makes you bad. And I think being bad is good for you.” (heh)

Jojo for giving me perspective of a different sort, providing a back story to what could only have been my comedy of errors.

Gen for keeping my phone busy. Gen, your text messages were the high points of my days. Seriously.

Ate M for everything. Ate, you are, and always will be, my idol. You make me proud to be a woman. I love you so much, Te.

You, kind stranger, for being you. Thank you for making me feel alive again. In a different world, in a parallel universe, perhaps we have our own story.

and…

Mark
for waiting for me. for loving me. for giving me strength. for being my best friend. for letting me go. for allowing me to be me.

I love you so much, baby. We’ll get through this. Whatever this is. We’ll get through this.

  1. my apologies to all my friends who didn’t know that i was there. i was in really bad shape, and i didn’t feel like pretending that i was okay. i’ll be back next month. and hopefully, i’d be my old jolly self.

  2. i still think troy’s grudge is overrated. that was five friggin’ years ago! geez….

  3. hoy allison, naa moy history ni troy? (just wondering where all the passion is coming from. wahahah)

fyi, troy was my neighbor in makati. he was just a couple of buildings away. he kept me company at odd hours of the night when i really needed a good conversation over yosi. he also rescued me from a very boring dinner with my parents and a few relatives. hahaha. but more than that, he made me feel better without even realizing that i was depressed. thanks so much, troy. you are appreciated. :)

  4. history ni troy????? do i breathe out of my ass?????????????

put simply, NO we do not have a history. and even I don’t know why he’s been carrying this grudge for all these years… isn’t that tiring???

oh well… i like troy, and i have nothing against him… apparently, the feeling isn’t reciprocated.

  5. al, you’re soooo cute. hahahaha.

hoy, ayaw mo pag-away. i may have exaggerated that grudge a bit. i don’t know. i just repeated what i heard after 3 buckets of beer. hahaha. you know what that’s like.

i don’t think troy reads this blog, or any other blog, for that matter. he’s a busy makati attorney, you see. otherwise known as a corporate slave. bwahahaha.

anyway, the two of you should talk. ;)

  6. Are you from cebu? Link exchange? drop me a comment.

  7. sure, just link me up and lemme know when done

  8. how does gen do it… be apathetic? she was probably just born like that, huh? i can’t be that way, and i actually DO care when someone’s mad at me. ESPECIALLY if it’s actually nothing to be mad about in the first place.

well, i’ll try not to worry about it. dili man kaha ko niya ipa-barang? :???:

  9. hahahaha. it’s talent and skill honed through years of practice.
