Come this November, the glorious sound of guitars being strummed shall resonate around the Guitar Capital of the Philippines, the City of Cebu. From the 22nd to the 24th of November, Cebu’s foremost guitarists will be in attendance at the 1st ever Cebu Guitar Festival at The Outpost in Nivel Hills. The festival is dedicated to the many subtleties, varying styles and techniques that attribute (sic) to the guitar being one of the world’s most versatile and influential of all musical instruments. Here, in this beautiful city, everything from Bluegrass to blues, jazz to rock, folk to acoustic fingerstyle, and everything else in between, will be catered for. The festival, which extends over three days, has at its core performances by notable Cebu guitarists and artists, as well as workshops to be conducted for the duration of the weekend. The first Cebu Guitar Festival is a must-see for all music enthusiasts in Cebu and elsewhere. Think fantastic finger work, intense riffs, and mind-blowing guitar solos. Think blues meets rock, rock meets jazz, classical meets alternative. Think fusion. Think exhibition. Think sparks and magic and musical bliss. Ahhh, I can’t wait.
Put this in your watch list: Hastang’s DonDon “Gaw” Luche jamming classic blues style with his idol and mentor, Arnold “Anot” Ang of 40. Ahh, that is a rare public display of superior guitar skill that one must absolutely see.
