New Year, New Blog Theme

This took me forever, I know. But I’ve been busy. Extremely so.

After a long and eventful ride, I’m finally saying goodbye to my beloved Dark theme to pave the way for this magazine layout based on the amazing Mimbo.

I don’t have anything else to add, so I’ll just pretend-interview myself because I also don’t have anything better to do. Or, rather, I don’t want to start doing the things that I really, really need to do.

But that’s another story. On to the interview…

Why change your theme? Aren’t you too busy already?

I was stressed with real life, and I needed a good distraction. Had I not tinkered with this totally self-indulgent project, I would have gone crazy. (And trust me, you don’t want to see me when I’m in one of those “moods”.)

What is this theme?

This theme is called Mimbo, a powerful, unique theme by Darren Hoyt. To use the words of the developer himself:

Mimbo is a magazine-style Wordpress theme which makes extensive use of WP’s template tag system to create a non-traditional layout. It contains no images and only minimal CSS styling. Mainly it exists as a clean, grid-based starter layout for designers to install and style to their own liking.

Hence, the unnecessary bells and whistles in this design. (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Stress is a bitch, you know.)

Explain your header.

Uhm, can’t. I just know I love that picture, courtesy of Bigmakoy. I think those are christmas lanterns from one crazy night at TJ’s with Bon, Gela, and the gang. Good times, good times. :)

What happened to your old theme?

It’s still here, somewhere. I may or may not use it again. We’ll see.

Are you done customizing this theme?

Uhm, not quite yet. I’ve fallen in love with Mimbo, and I can’t wait to see what other crazy things I can dream of adding to this. And uhm, I’ve been dubbed OC once too often, so there.

Note: Updates are still currently in progress. So please bear with me.

Update (01/20/2008):

I don’t see your shoutbox anywhere? Where is it?

My shoutbox is in the third tab in the right sidebar of the home page. Wait a few seconds for the red box to load, then click the tab marked “Shoutbox”. Don’t forget to leave me a message. I’ve been missing those sweet and not-so-sweet nothings in my shoutbox. ;)

    the image size is 745 X 220 , as you know i use Header_Dark.psd you give in your site, than i modified it. but not full in the end.

    the code in “style.css” i changed was :

    #header {
    width: auto;
    height: 220px;
    margin: 0 0 0 150px;
